Communication is just simply the act of transferring information from one place/people/groups to another. It may be in any form like wtitten, oral, pictorial or by expressions. All your knowledge are of no use(i don’t want to say useless 😉) if you don’t have good presentation skills, either written or orally. Let’s see about written modes of communication. It includes articles, reports, emails, invitations, messages, social media posts and many more. You can make your written communication more effective by using some small techniques. Once we put these techniques in our habit, it becomes very easy to express effectively.
▪️Always use one line SUBJECT while writing letters or emails. A good headline have two functions; it grabs your attention and it summarises the content.
▪ Keep lines clear , brief and to the point. Use bullet points to specify separate points.
▪ Be polite and formal. Check the tone. Avoid repetition of same words. Choice of simple words, sentence length should be focused.
▪ Proofreading should be done before posting/sending. Review spellings, grammar, punctuations.
▪ chronology and sequence should be customised properly.
How to develop oral communication??
Good communication is an art that has to be developed and honed. Our communication often gets affected by confusions and misunderstandings.
Following C’s should be considered while speaking to make your speech make effective.
▪ CLEAR State the purpose of message clearly.
▪ CONCISE use simple and small sentences. Avoid repetitions.
▪ CONCRETE Make your content tangible, use facts and figures to support your argument.
▪ COHERENT It refers to logical bridge between words, sentences and paragraphs. Information should be presented sequentially.
▪ COMPLETE Make sure that what you want to say is complete in all aspects.
▪ COURTEOUS The tone of message should be polite and respectful.
▪ CONCLUDE close the message by a brief conclusion.
” TRY TO BE A GOOD LISTENER ” Everyone says this. But till when? The answer is- be a good listener infront of your seniors or when the matter is complex, otherwise in between your friends, try to be a good speaker. Because friends circle is the place where you can express yourself freely, where you can discuss any topic without any hesitation. And if you do this , your communication skills progress by itself, you will become bold and confident.
We can improve our personality, build perfect relationships, achieve success in all spheres of life simply by speaking sweet and soft.
